Enhanced File Browser Improvements Now Available
General
This release includes improvements to the new File Browser, focusing on navigation, manifest imports, and routine file operations. These updates aim to provide a smoother and more consistent experience when working with project files and DRS URIs.
Improvements
- Extended selection limit and manifest generation: Increased the limit of selected items for download operations to 1000, enabling more efficient bulk downloads. Restored the Generate DRS Manifest (CSV/TSV) option in the More actions menu.
- Improved navigation consistency: Updated navigation so that adding files from the Data menu or Faceted Search now returns you to the new File Browser instead of the old Files tab. Importing a DRS manifest from the redirect page also keeps you within the new File Browser.
- UX refinements: Implemented a set of UX refinements including clearer states, actions, and visual consistency improvements.
Fixed Bugs
- Navigation fixes: Fixed multiple issues where links from the Files tab to task pages were broken or incorrect. Corrected navigation so that opening a directory from a task page now routes to the new File Browser instead of the old Files page.
- DRS import fixes: Fixed an issue where importing a DRS URI into a folder placed files in the root directory instead of the selected folder. Restored the DRS label and pill in the compact DRS import view. Fixed a backend issue where the DRS URI property was not returned in API responses.
- Manifest import fixes: Fixed an issue where the Import TSV manifest modal remained open after file selection. Resolved a bug where the import dialog displayed folders that did not exist.
- File selection and actions: Fixed an issue where the Archive action wasn’t enabled for all selected files and where file selections persisted incorrectly between imports. Also resolved a bug that caused selected files in subfolders to lose their selection after navigating away and returning.
- Uploads and metadata: Fixed web uploads failing in projects with Azure locations. Added an alert when closing the browser window during an upload. Fixed metadata fields not showing existing values when editing. Restored the Open in Interactive Analysis button for BAM files.
- Navigation path and UI fixes: Fixed the folder navigation path so that a subfolder link on a single file page returns you to the correct subfolder. Fixed the New Files tab not refreshing when selected. Corrected misaligned UI elements in the New Folder modal.
